Combined Cadet Force
(Year 9/Senior)
RHB benefits from having its own Army section of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF). All Year 9 and 10 pupils have the opportunity to participate in the CCF, after which involvement is voluntary. The CCF helps to develop our students by introducing them to a plethora of activities and skills which assist in the steps toward adult life. Some of the activities include: Leadership Training, First Aid, Map-Reading, Drill, Shooting, Field-Craft, Expedition Training and Survival Skills.
In Year 9 cadets work to achieve their Basic Proficiency Certificate and then progress to more advanced topics in Year 10. Senior cadets can then advance their personal training and expand upon their leadership skills by becoming Non Commissioned Officers, with responsibilities including contribution to the training of younger cadets.
An integral part of the training is the termly Field Day where all cadets participate in a whole day of CCF activity. There are also several voluntary weekend exercises at local training areas, an annual adventurous training camp, during the October half term, and a military Summer Camp during the Summer holidays.
Senior cadets may also use their voluntary service toward completion of the D of E award scheme.
