Performing & Expressive Arts

To complement our academically rigorous curriculum, Reddam House Berkshire offers an extensive programme of expressive and performing arts subjects.

PUBLIC SPEAKING

Public Speaking is a timetabled lesson in the Middle School and students take part in local competitions and work to achieve their LAMDA qualifications. Debating is a popular additional activity and hones the skills not only of speaking, but also of listening.

DANCE

Dance is offered to all students, and we aim to expand our students’ enthusiasm through a focus on performance, choreography, and appreciation of different dance styles. Alongside termly units of work, students follow the RSL Jazz Syllabus and can enter for exams annually.

Examination and recreational classes are available in Royal Academy of Dance Ballet, International Dance Teachers Association Tap, and Freestyle and Street with qualified and registered dance teachers. There is also an auditioned dance company that runs outside of the core school day bring a vibrancy to this area of the school.

MUSIC

Music is an integral part of the Reddam House offer. Every pupil is encouraged to learn a musical instrument and is welcome to join our range of instrumental groups and choirs. The opportunity to accompany productions and to compete in House music and external competitions is an exciting opportunity to perform. A vast team of peripatetic teachers offer tuition in almost every instrument – students are spoiled for choice!

ART

Enhancing Artistic Abilities

Throughout the middle school years our pupils are invited to develop their artistic skills. Taught in our magnificent light filled art studio, our art curriculum exposes students to such disciplines as sculpture, photography, pottery, printing and acrylics, alongside honing their abilities in drawing and painting.

‘Masterpiece of the Month’ newsletter showcases the superb talent of our students and is a sought after accolade.
