We are delighted to inform you of the official opening of the new Boarding facility, Blake House.  This will be an integral component of our initiative to prepare students to move onto the next phase of their schooling and to help make the transition from Junior into the Middle School seamless.  Students will have their own space, helping to foster greater responsibility, independence and an opportunity to express their individualism.

The house is one of the School’s oldest buildings and has been modernised to create single and twin en-suite rooms for Year 7-10 students. The boarding house is brimming with the latest technology; surround sound, wet rooms, Wi-Fi throughout, electronic entry and exit for enhanced safety and a central common room with links through the building to a study area and kitchen.  The internal refurbishment and conversion give the house a modern and open look on the inside, whilst retaining its historic façade. In conjunction with a fantastic facility, Reddam House boarders enjoy a vast array of cultural experiences including weekend trips to Windsor Castle, Harry Potter Studios, Lego Land, Oxford University and multiple events in London. It is easy to see why boarding numbers have had an exponential increase since September 2015.

Commenting on this new development at Reddam House, Principal Tammy Howard said “Research has shown that a person’s work or study environment has an impact on performance.  This recently refurbished house is bright and modern.  There are spaces for individual and group study, as well as recreational areas, making it an ideal environment for students in their early secondary years. I am pleased to see that this project, which has taken several months of planning and involved numerous internal and external stakeholders, has been finished to such a high standard.”

The success of Reddam House boarding is attributed to the strong support of House Parents and academic staff. Mr. Steve Paxton, the Head of Boarding is committed to providing his students with the highest level of assistance. "Each evening, students have access to two house parents and three academic staff. From our past experience, having specialist staff available for students throughout the week significantly improves attainment and performance. It is essentially a one to two hour individual tutorial each evening." Mr. and Mrs. Kiely will oversee Blake House and are very much looking forward to the exciting times ahead for the Reddam House boarding community.
