REDDAM HOUSE BERKSHIRE REMEMBRANCE SERVICE 2017

10 November 2017

On Friday 10 November Reddam House Berkshire hosted their third Annual Remembrance Service in St. Nicholas’ Chapel.  This remains a significant date in the diary where the School has the opportunity to remember the ‘Old Boys’ who paid the ultimate sacrifice.  We continue to ensure that the memory of all others who have given their lives in the Service of their country, will continue to be honoured - for evermore.

The congregation consisting of students, parents, teachers, support and administrative staff witnessed a memorable and poignant service conducted by the Judiciary and senior pupils of the School.  Readings were taken from ‘Forgotten Voices of the Great War’ written by Max Arthurs.  They were chosen in order to recount feelings, emotions and experiences of those who fought and witnessed the trauma of the Great War.

Senior cadets from our own Combined Cadet Force provided the bearer party for the three standards (Union Flag, School and CCF Standard).  They all wore military dress uniform, some for the very first time, and paid the greatest of respect to their forebears who had given their lives for our freedom.  An outstanding performance of Nella Fantasia (music by Ennio Morricone and lyrics by Chiara Ferrau) was also delivered by our Gravitas Choir during the service which was expertly directed by Miss Louise Turner.

Reddam House Berkshire wishes to thank Mr Martin Barnes, our organist, who again gave up his valuable time to play and our trumpeter Alexander who played the last post and reveille magnificently.

WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
