The weather gods once again smiled favourably on us as Year 7 & 8 Sports Day was held in sunny, warm conditions with the Reddam fields looking superlative as always thanks to Mr Myles and his crew.

All the pupils were put into groups named after GB Olympians as they all competed in the six events against their friends and peers of similar ability in a rotation of 100m, 800, Long Jump, High Jump, Javelin & Shot Put. They could score a maximum of 5 points per event as judged against Track & Field schools athletics tables.

Tamela shocked herself in team Lewis by picking up first spot while Natasha & Georgina battled it out for second and third respectively.

In the all-important House Competition, the margins were incredibly narrow as Mr. Nichol used all his Mathematics genius to work out the averages for each House including a weighting for the relays that Perseverance won for the boys and Illustrious in the Girls. Illustrious took the overall win whilst Discovery edged Perseverance into 4th place by only 0.1 of a point – incredibly close.

Overall it was an excellent afternoon’s sport. It was great to see the Lower Sixth out managing the teams and the GCSE PE students officiating. Thanks as always to the staff that ran the event and a huge well done to all the competitors who strived gainfully for every House Point.
