PERFORMING & EXPRESSIVE ARTS

INSPIRING CONFIDENCE

At Reddam House we believe that all children should have opportunities to develop confidence and nurture artistic and creative talents. As a result, our Performing and Expressive Arts Department is a busy community.

Art and Design lessons take place in the first floor light filled art studio overlooking the south lawn leading to the lake; a truly inspirational setting for the important creativity that goes on in this area. Students take part in a range of disciplines including painting, different forms of sculpture, pottery, mosaic, digital art and much more. Elements of Design Technology are woven into the curriculum and students enjoy a structured Robotics course and some food technology too.

SPECIALIST TEACHING

On the performance side, weekly lessons in Dance, Drama, Singing and Music continue to hone skills and creativity led by specialist teachers. There are many opportunities to shine at Reddam House by being involved in Whole School Dance Shows, Junior School Productions, Talent Showcases, recitals and competitions.

A number of Dance classes take place outside of the core day in giving students the opportunity to work towards examinations in Ballet, Tap, Hip-hop, freestyle or to just enjoy taking part!

Every student learns to play an individual instrument and all are invited to join the Reddam House instrumental groups and the whole school choir. A team of peripatetic music teachers offer almost every instrument possible and provide individual and small group tuition. To supplement this work we offer individual and group music lessons and our children have the opportunity to work towards LAMDA qualifications. Speech and Drama is a firm feature in the school and we enjoy local success in competitions across the disciplines.

With so many classes, shows, competitions and lessons, this is a vibrant part of the school community.
