Performing & Expressive Arts

Reddam House Berkshire offers expressive and performing arts subjects to both GCSE and A-level.

The department aims to provide many opportunities for pupils to act, direct, design, devise and produce. The Arts thrive as academic subjects at Reddam House and are taught throughout the school.

Dance

Dance is offered to all students until year 9 when they can opt for GCSE Dance, and then in year 12 they can continue their studies with A Level Dance. We aim to expand our students’ physical, technical and expressive ability through a focus on performance, choreography and appreciation of different dance styles and genres. Alongside termly units of work, students follow the RSL Jazz Syllabus and can enter for exams annually.

Examination and recreational classes are available in Royal Academy of Dance Ballet, International Dance Teachers Association Tap, and Freestyle and Street with qualified and registered dance teachers. There is also an auditioned dance company that runs outside of the core school day bring a vibrancy to this area of the school.

SENIOR SCHOOL

Productions

Involvement in the performance side of the school continues for our Senior School students who can get involved in any aspect of major productions, including acting, backstage work, technical assistance with sound and lighting, and publicity. This instills a shared experience that gives them skills they will always find useful, notably creativity, teamwork, communication, decision-making, risk-taking and presentation.

ART AND DESIGN

Even for those who do not chose to do Art and Design in the Senior School, the Art department is a wonderful place to express oneself, it is a stimulating environment adorned with work produced by enthusiastic art students who are passionate learners and possess a desire for all that is creative. Students are welcomed into clubs and courses which take place outside of the core day and encouraged to explore their creative talents further.
